The American Mathematical Society (AMS) Graduate Chapter Program provides graduate students with benefits that complement AMS membership. These include a student discount on Institutional Membership, opportunities to attend AMS meetings and conferences, access to the AMS website, and the opportunity to collaborate with other AMS chapters.

The North Carolina State University Graduate Student Chapter works to promote mathematics, build relationships between graduate students and professors that extend outside the classroom and assist and inform NC State math grad students on the job market. The Chapter gives annual awards for outstanding work by graduate students and their mentors.

The NVU-Lyndon student chapter enjoys participating in networking and career-building opportunities that provide members with an opportunity to meet professionals from their fields of interest. The chapter also holds a quarterly luncheon for its members to gather and reflect on the year and plan for the spring semester.

In addition to regular chapter activities, local chapters may have a wide range of social events that vary in form and content depending on the interests of the members. Our chapter also supports student research by providing opportunities for student speakers to present their work. In addition to promoting student interest in mathematics, we strongly focus on outreach and service. During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, our Chapter provided webinars and online seminars to keep students connected to one another and their professors during the crisis.

The Policy Program provides science-based information to the public and helps policymakers ground their decisions in the best available scientific knowledge. It conducts research, hosts briefings, and offers an annual Summer Policy Colloquium to introduce Earth scientists to the federal policy process.
